Mr Samuel Ford

Mr Samuel Ford is a consultant surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 and undertook specialist surgical training throughout the South West in general and upper GI surgery. Sam was awarded a PhD in cancer biology from the University of Birmingham and his doctoral research was supported by the highly competitive Cancer Research UK Clinical Fellowship. Sam has also undertaken Fellowships in Sarcoma Surgery at the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan and as the Royal College of Surgeons Sarcoma Fellow in Birmingham.

Sam is fully trained in laparoscopic and open operating with a specialist interest in complex cancer surgery which often involves major reconstruction of the abdominal and chest wall. Hernia surgery is a significant element to Sam’s practice and he offers repair of large and recurrent incisional hernias as well as inguinal, umbilical, femoral and more unusual hernias of the abdominal wall. He is experienced in laparoscopic techniques for hernia repair and will help decide if your hernia is suitable for this type of surgery.
