Mr Simon Radley is a Consultant Surgeon with extensive experience in hernia repair, from straightforward inguinal and femoral hernias to complex abdominal wall, incisional, stomal, and perineal hernias. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr Radley carries out hernia surgery using both open and robotic techniques, and will recommend the most suitable approach based on the type and size of the hernia, the patient’s general health and their day-to-day activity. His broad experience of groin hernia repair and complex abdominal wall reconstruction means he is well placed to advise on the best option for each patient.

Mr Radley graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1985 with Honours in Surgery. He trained in general surgery in the West Midlands before completing specialist training at St Mark’s Hospital, London, and undertaking an overseas fellowship in the United States, visiting Boston, Minneapolis, and the Mayo Clinic.

He was appointed Consultant Surgeon in 2002 and formerly served as Clinical Service Lead for General and Gastrointestinal Surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. He played a key role in introducing laparoscopic colorectal surgery to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Circle The Priory Hospital, and was a trainer on the national LAPCO programme, teaching consultant surgeons across the UK to perform laparoscopic bowel cancer surgery.

Mr Radley teaches regularly on local, national, and international surgical courses and is frequently invited to lecture at meetings in the UK and abroad.
